Common questions about how Cheapr NYC works.
Cheapr NYC is an independent, community-powered price comparison app built for New York City shoppers. We are not affiliated with any grocery store or brand. Prices are submitted by real NYC residents who shop at these stores.
Prices reflect what a shopper saw in store; they are not synced from checkout systems. ✓ Verified entries meet additional criteria (see below). Each listing shows when it was last reported. Older entries may be marked as possibly outdated. We recommend confirming the shelf or receipt before you buy.
Verified indicates higher confidence: three independent signed-in submissions matched within seven days, a moderator approved the entry, or it was ingested from a trusted source. It does not guarantee the store still shows that price; shelf tags change frequently.
We normally display one verified price per product per store (the newest verified row is shown when duplicates exist). Please confirm in store when it matters.
Badges such as Community pick reflect upvotes and recency, not the verified flag. Hover or long-press labels on listings for short explanations.
Every price listing shows a timestamp ("2 days ago", "1 week ago", etc.). Our community submits new prices daily. If you see a price that looks wrong, you can flag it using the flag icon on any listing — or submit the correct price yourself.
No. You can search and browse all prices without creating an account. An account is only required if you want to submit prices, use the Watchlist, receive price alerts, or earn cash rewards.
With Pro, you can track specific products and stores. Optionally set a target price; we email you when a reported price meets your threshold. It is designed for items you purchase regularly.
Trends summarizes how common grocery items are moving across boroughs — which prices are rising or falling and where lower prices tend to appear. Useful for planning a larger shop.
Yes. When payouts are enabled, you earn $0.25 per paid submission (up to 5 per day), plus verification and other bonuses when offered. Request a PayPal payout once your balance reaches $5.00. Balances and rates are shown on your Account page. A yearly earnings limit ($600.00) and other program rules apply.
The minimum balance to request a payout is $5.00. From Account → Request Payout, enter your PayPal email. Transfers are usually processed within 3–5 business days. An annual limit of $600.00 per account currently applies.
Click "Submit Price" in the navigation bar. Select the store, find the product, enter the price you saw, and optionally add the unit size (e.g. "16 oz"). That's it. Your submission appears immediately and helps other NYC shoppers save money.
Authentication is handled by Supabase. We do not sell personal data. If you request a payout, we collect your PayPal email only to send the payment. For full details, see our Privacy Policy.
