CheaprNYC ("Cheapr," "we," "us," or "our") operates a community-powered grocery price comparison platform serving New York City. Our website is located at cheaprnyc.app. For official communications—including privacy questions and data requests—email [email protected] (our designated contact for users) or contact us through the site.
When you create an account, we collect:
You may optionally provide your first name, last name, and phone number in your account settings.
Sign-in via Google, Facebook, or Apple: If you sign in using a third-party provider, that provider may share basic profile information (such as email and name) with us in accordance with their own privacy policies. We do not control the data practices of these authentication providers.
If you add items to your Watchlist (a Pro feature), we store your product and store preferences to enable price tracking and alerts. This behavioral data is associated with your account and deleted upon account deletion.
When you submit grocery prices, we collect the product name, store name, price, date of submission, and your username (publicly displayed). Price submissions are community-contributed data and may remain publicly visible even if your account is deleted. Upon account deletion, submissions may be anonymized but retained for platform integrity and historical accuracy.
When you use the Ask AI feature, your queries may be processed by a third-party AI provider. Queries may be logged for quality and safety purposes. We do not use your queries to train AI models.
If you select a preferred borough (e.g., Manhattan, Brooklyn) in the app, we may store this location-related preference locally or in your account to personalize search results and content.
Subscriptions
If you subscribe to Cheapr Pro, payment processing is handled by Stripe. We do not store or process your card details.
Contributor Payouts
If you request a payout, we collect your PayPal email address. Payouts are processed via PayPal. We may collect additional information if required for tax reporting compliance.
Referral Program
If you join via a referral link, we record the relationship between your account and the referring user in our database. Your first price submission on the platform may trigger a cash credit to the account of the user who referred you. This is part of the referral incentive program. The referring user does not receive access to your personal information — only a bonus credit. Referral relationships are retained for payout audit and fraud prevention purposes.
We collect limited, anonymized analytics data such as pages visited, click interactions, and general usage trends. We do not sell personal data. Analytics data is aggregated and anonymized wherever reasonably possible.
For fraud prevention and platform integrity purposes, we may log IP addresses associated with account sign-ups, price submissions, and payout requests. This data is used solely to detect and prevent abuse such as duplicate account creation or manipulation of the contributor earnings program. IP addresses are not shared with third parties except as required by law, and are retained only as long as necessary for fraud investigation purposes.
When you submit feedback, suggestions, or store suggestions, we collect and store that content to improve the platform. Feedback submissions become our property and may be used without further compensation to you.
We use cookies and similar technologies that are necessary for authentication, session management, and core operation of the Service. Where optional analytics or advertising cookies are used (for example, Vercel Analytics to understand how pages are used, or the X advertising pixel to measure ad campaigns), we ask for your consent via our cookie banner before those technologies load. We do not sell personal data. For more on how we use data, see the Terms of Service.
